Artist of the Week - A. Chal

This week’s new artist is A.Chal. The LA based artist has music that incorporates elements of R&B, Soul and Hip-Hop in order to create his own style of Hip-Hop. A.Chal began first rapping at the age of 12 in New York’s borough, Queens and later moved to Los Angeles to pursue his music career. His album GAZI became an album that consisted of creative flare.

After speaking with IDOL, A.Chal explained he 100% does all of his creative direction, adding “there’s no real process in coming up with the aesthetics, because it’s based on how I’m feeling”. As a result of this, the album has helped him connect with fans on a deeper level whilst also gaining insight into his life.

After the success of GAZI, A.Chal then released another album named ‘ON GAZ’ on 2nd June 2017, 364 days after the release of his 2016 project. Popular songs such as “To the Light” and Matrix” have been the most recognised tracks of the album. After listening to the album, it is evident he has similar elements to artists such as Kanye West and Bryson Tiller with the style of music A.Chal creates. With inspiration from The Weeknd and Majid Jordan, it is clear to see how A.Chals vocals contrast against the music he creates which is essentially turning him into a younger version of the Weeknd. In addition, with the albums success A.Chals album tour was hitting nearly every major city in the US starting from 23rd August 2017. Therefore, it is safe to say the LA artist is one rising star to look out for in the future!
