Police are conducting investigations after a bench commemorating a local Holocaust survivor was found smashed and dumped into the boating lake at Clowes Park in Salford.

Emergency services have been present at the Salford Quays this afternoon, after a body was pulled from the water, a Greater Manchester Police spokesperson has confirmed.

Train services have been delayed and cancelled at Newton-Le-Willows Station this afternoon, after a male was involved in a major incident on the tracks.   Emergency services including: A police helicopter, ambulance, fire services, police officers and a network rail response team attended the scene.   A witness who wants to stay anonymous said: the man was believed to have been “struck by a train but was still alive.”   It was said by a worker, that the man had been crossing
