Chief Inspector awarded commendation following lifesaving CPR at Salford Crescent Train Station
Chief Inspector Michael Parker has been awarded Greater Manchester Police’s Chief Constable Commendation for lifesaving First Aid while off duty.
Parker received the award after saving a man’s life while waiting for a train at Salford Crescent. The man was spotted on the floor, not breathing, which led to Parker starting CPR.

Fire in Salford University 'involved tumble dryer', say Fire Service
"At around 7.10pm today (19 January) six fire engines from across Greater Manchester attended a building fire involving a tumble dryer in a communal laundry room at a high-rise building on University Road, Salford", a spokesperson for GMFRS said.
“Crews wearing breathing apparatus arrived quickly and are using a gas monitor and two hose reels to extinguish the fire. Firefighters remain in attendance at this time.”
