A Reform UK activist has been suspended over reports of racist and misogynist language used on social media.
Adam Mitula, Reform Tameside’s interim campaign manager, confirmed he had been suspended from the party, but claims his comments have been taken out of context.
In evidence gathered and published by Hope Not Hate, an anti-racism campaign group, Mitula appears to have written posts on social media site X, formerly Twitter, in which he said he wouldn’t "touch a Jewish woman," as well as claiming that Holocaust death toll numbers had been exaggerated.
The evidence published also appears to show him using the n-word in a post on 21 August 2024.
He also reportedly claimed that “60-70%” of transgender people are paedophiles.
Mitula has also reportedly promoted several posts from Andrew Tate', a “self-proclaimed” misogynist influencer, who is wanted in the UK to face allegations of sexual assault, which he denies.
Mitula said: "I'm confirming my suspension as a Reform member pending investigation.
"The comments in question were taken out of context, and actually defended the Jewish community."
Reform UK said its internal disciplinary processes are “confidential.”
