Synagogue Terror Attack: The latest updates.

We reported on a major incident that occurred at the Heaton Park Congregation Synagogue yesterday morning, and you can read that report here:



Since we wrote that initial report, the police are now treating the incident as a terror attack.


Here’s the latest:


- Two Jewish men were killed as a result of the attack. They have been named as 53-year old Adrian Daulby, and 66-year old Melvin Cravitz.


  • Greater Manchester Police (GMP) have reported that one  of the victims were killed as a result of police gunfire, whilst they were targeting the attacker.


  • Three people remain in hospital, and according to police, one person is being treated for a non-life threatening gunshot wound.


  • The suspected attacker has been named as Jihad Al-Shamie, a 35-year old British man of Syrian descent.


  • Al-Shamie’s family have described the attack as a “heinous act”, and have expressed “deep shock and sorrow.”


  • Three other people have been arrested in relation to the incident.


  • Prime Minister Kier Starmer, who cut short a trip to Copenhagen to call an emergency COBRA Meeting yesterday afternoon, visited the scene of the incident this morning. He thanked the first responders to the scene, and has said he will ensure the Jewish community are “safe and secure.”
