Police have arrested four people and charged one individual after a disturbance on Lower Broughton Road in Salford earlier today (Wednesday 11th June 2025)
The disturbance began at 1:30pm, with 50-60 young people gathering in the area, according to Greater Manchester Police (GMP)
Videos published on social media showed cars on fire and scorched. Rocks and stones were thrown at vehicles, one of which damaged the windscreen of a police vehicle.

On a post on Salford GMP website they say:
“Following investigations by officers this afternoon, we have detained four men in relation to three different incidents in the Salford area. A 16-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of theft and public order, before a man in his 30s was detained on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly and possession of Class A drugs. Two men aged 18 and 19 have been arrested on suspicion of possession of a bladed article.A 16-year-old female – who cannot be named for legal reasons – has been charged with assaulting an emergency worker and has been bailed to appear at court at a future date.”
Superintendent Marcus Noden confirmed Officers will remain in the area overnight, with a
“dispersal order in place until 2pm tomorrow afternoon (Thursday 12 June 2025).”

The situation de-escalated significantly at around 4:50pm, with GMP confirming that there is not currently an incident taking place.
Some of the vehicles that have been damaged in the disturbance have been removed from the area.
A Video online also shows a Fiat 500 being driven on and off pavements with the boot open
Greater Manchester Police has not yet confirmed the reason behind the disorder, but has confirmed it is not to do with immigration. Noden called the speculation regarding immigration being the reason “categorically incorrect”.
