Success for Salford student Eduan in the European Athletic Championships

It was victory for Success Eduan who is a studying midwife at the University of Salford as she took gold in the Women's 4x100m Relay at the European Athletic Championships in Birmingham.
It was a dominant display from the British quartet that included history maker Dina Asher-Smith, Amy Hunt, who won her third gold medal in what could be a potentially historic quadruple, and Imani-Lara Lansiquot, who finished the job with over a second to spare.
Eduan said in a post race interview for Athletics Weekly: “Not many can do what I am doing right now… I’m a student midwife by day, and an athlete by night.”
“I’ve still got shifts next week to deliver babies on my night shifts so I’m just taking it all in and am so grateful for the opportunity.”
This accolade adds to the growing trophy cabinet of the 21 year old from Blackley in Manchester who already has a number of medals to her name including gold in the 200m at the 2025 U23 European Championships and the 2026 UK Championship.
She beat out Amy Hunt to gold in the UK Championships in June who has soared to new heights in Birmingham this week. Already the new 100m and 200m champion, she added the 4x100m to her collection and now sets her sights on an historic quad-gold with the mixed 4x100m on Sunday evening.
A night for records, One of Britain's most successful athletes of all time Dina Asher-Smith secured her 7th Gold in the championships, equalling the record tally and putting her name once more into the history books.
After the race, Hunt told BBC Sport "I am stood next to some amazing women. This girl [Eduan] is a midwife, she brings babies into the world. This girl [Lansiquot] wrote a play. We're all amazing.
"That was stunning to come together. I had the time of my life."
Only 15 minutes earlier, the Novuna Great Britain and Northern Ireland men's quartet of Rommel Glave, Jeremiah Azu, Louie Hinchliffe and Zharnel Hughes brought the baton across the line first at the Alexander Stadium.
A historic double and an outstanding addition to an already historic night.
