New Conservative Party leader Rishi Sunak will be confirmed as Prime Minister tomorrow.

Mr Sunak will have his first audience with His Majesty King Charles mid-morning tomorrow before addressing the nation from Downing Street

Before this, the outgoing PM Liz Truss will chair her final Cabinet meeting at 9am, before making a statement outside No10 and then travelling to the Palace for an audience with His Majesty the King.

The former Chancellor won the leadership election earlier on Monday after Commons leader Penny Mordaunt conceded victory.

Upon his victory, Sunak said: “It’s the greatest privilege of my life, to be able to serve the party I love and give back to the country, I owe so much to.”

"The UK is a great country, but there is no doubt we face a profound economic challenge,"

"I pledge that I will serve you with integrity and humility and I will work, day in day out to deliver for the British people."

He will become the UK's first British Asian PM and at 42, the youngest leader in more than two centuries.

Labour MP for Worsley & Eccles Barbara Keeley, simply tweeted “General Election Now” following the announcement this afternoon.
