The popular Peel parkrun has been cancelled for the next two Saturdays due to scheduling conflicts with local events.
In a recent update, the parkrun team informed participants that the event will not take place on Saturday, 14th June, or Saturday, 21st June. The announcement was first made in last week’s participant briefing and later confirmed via social media.

The first cancellation coincides with an open day at the University of Salford, which is expected to cause significant parking issues. The university’s Frederick Road Campus car park is currently closed until autumn 2025 to make way for the construction of a new multi-storey car park. The parkrun team stated that the university is
“concerned about parking spaces for prospective students.”
The following week, the event will be cancelled once again due to Peel Park’s annual Pink Picnic, scheduled for Saturday, 21st June. The event, hosted by Salford City Council, is described as
“Salford’s biggest LGBTQ+ celebration,” promising “a day filled with live performances, community fun, and celebration.”
Despite the cancellations, the parkrun team took a positive tone, suggesting the break is
“a good opportunity for everyone to do some touristing.” They confirmed that Peel parkrun will return on Saturday, 28th June.
In the meantime, organisers are encouraging volunteers to help fill upcoming rosters. Anyone interested in supporting future events is invited to email the team at peel@parkrun.com.
