Overpass rock Bury as they release new album 'Elsewhere, Always'
Birmingham-based quartet Overpass headed to The Met in Bury for an intimate performance in partnership with Wax & Beans record store to celebrate the release of their debut album ‘Elsewhere, Always’.

The track Union Station kicked off the night (and the album); an energetic opener that instantly hooked the crowd and had them singing from the very first note. Lead singer Max Newbold’s strong vocals paired effortlessly with his confident stage presence to set the tone for the evening. 3AM amplified the atmosphere even further, with a sea of fans jumping throughout the venue.
The band slowed things down on I Will, playing a more relaxed number as they glowed under a pink and blue wash. Do not be fooled though as the track then had gradually turned into a heavier track with a strong drum build up, turning it into a signature Overpass track.
Another standout moment of the set was Fall In Love, led by Elliot Rawling’s infectious electric guitar riff. The chemistry between Max and the rest of the band was clear and made the performance feel more authentic. When Max called out “Sing it with us,” the crowd did just that.
A single spotlight then shone on Max, creating an intimate moment with fans for Bonnie & Clyde Pt.2. Newbold’s vocal ability was especially impressive, with notes reaching new heights, allowing fans to have a moment of peace amongst the energetic set. Forever, You quickly picked up the momentum again, with fans dancing along to the upbeat instrumentals and singing as if they were the instruments themselves. Bassist Indie Armstrong’s backing vocals added a deeper layer to the song, blending effortlessly with Max’s lead vocals.
A personal favourite was Get Up! which proved to be the perfect indie summer tune. Drummer Jake Bishop and Armstrong once again added to the track with powerful backing vocals.
“This has been a really special weekend. Thank you for sharing it with us” Max shared before launching into the track Heaven, taken from the Is This Real? EP released back in 2025. The catchy chorus got the crowd singing along instantly. Penultimate track Take It Or Leave It saw the crowd clapping in unison under the blue lights to the band’s sharp sound.
Closing the set was Is This Real?, with Max smiling out at the crowd as every lyric was sung back to him. It was the ideal way to end an unforgettable evening in true Overpass style and a night fans will remember for a very long time.
Overpass delivered a set that showcased why they are one of the most exciting names in the indie music scene and performed an album that sounds simply amazing both recorded and live.
