OVERNIGHT ROAD CLOSURE LIKELY FOLLOWING SPILLAGE NEAR UNIVERSITY CAMPUS

An overnight road closure is likely following a large spillage near the main campus of the University of Salford.

Around seven large tankers can be seen in the road, after a lorry shed its load.

Broad Street is closed inbound towards the city centre, at the junction of Federick Road.

Greater Manchester Fire & Rescue Service and Greater Manchester Police have been on scene since lunchtime today.

Major delays are expected in the surrounding area, with Go North West buses reporting delays of up to an hour.

A Salford City Council spokesperson said: "For safety reasons, Albion Way junction is closed between Liverpool Street and Broad Street with a diversion in place. This is now likely to be an overnight closure."

Greater Manchester Fire & Rescue Service have been contacted for comment.
