One of Manchester Airport’s 3 terminals has been closed this evening, with flights departing
from Terminal 2 said to be moving to Terminal 1 or 3. It follows the discovery of a suspicious
package within the terminal.
Greater Manchester Police were called to the scene at around 3.30PM. The suspicious item has
been cordoned off, with the bomb squad now in attendance to make an evaluation. Terminal 2
was subject to a “controlled evacuation” according to a GMP spokesperson. The airport said
such an evacuation was “standard procedure”
Passengers took to social media when security was stepped up this afternoon, but travellers felt
they weren’t being informed of the situation.
