Dominant display from the Aces against Northampton

The Belle Vue Aces showed why they are top of the league away to the Northampton Foxes with a resounding 55–35 win, taking them a step closer clinching the top step in the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership.

Tapes up on one of the warmest days of the year, it was all Aces for the first half of the scorecard, pulling an advantage on every heat.

The Foxes attempted a comeback but to no avail as the Aces were able to stretch their legs to a 5–1 scoreline in Heat 12 to seal the deal.

Two riders were missing for Belle Vue with no.4 Zach Cook and no.5 Jason Doyle both needed in Poland, but this did not sway the team as Chris ‘Bomber’ Harris came in for Cook and took home a 9+1 score. Rider Replacement was in effect for Jason Doyle.

Star of the night however was the Aces Norick Blodorn the 22 year old from Neumunster, Germany picked up 13 points and three heat victories.

THere was one scare for Belle Vue when Peter Kildemand, who has already been absent this season with injury, had a fall in Heat 10 prompting a rerun but he was back on his bike for Heat 12.

After the race, Belle Vue gaffer Mark Lemon said “I didn’t really expect that scoreline to be quite honest, but I guess the boys are riding with a lot of confidence.”

One can not understate the temperature, with the Shale running slick and throwing up dust in the air Foxes boss Chris Adams echoed this:

“I’m not blaming anything but having only started this year the track has been different each week, and today with the temperatures as they were it was a lot slicker than what it was, plus we had three riders who haven’t ridden here before.”

It’s a double bill for the Foxes, with them staying at the Northampton International Shaleway on Monday as they take on the Leicester Lions and it’s the same competition for Belle Vue as they hit the road once more as they look to put the competition firmly in the rear-view mirror.
