Anti-Bullying Week 2018

Let’s talk about bullying. It’s better out of your head than in it.

This week is Anti-Bullying Week throughout the UK, we wanted to talk about it. Whether it’s happening to you or someone you know, face-to-face or online we want this post to be helpful so you can make your voice heard. Everyone goes through some sort of bullying at some stage in their lives. You go through questioning everything that you do and whether you're going to be bullied for it or not and whether or not anyone's gonna pick up on it or say anything to you. But we need to stop living in constant fear of bullies and stand out against them. Bullying can leave you feeling anxious, sad, lonely and sometimes depressed but it doesn't have to be that way.

The theme for this year's Anti-Bullying Week is to choose respect over bullying. It is accepting that we can respectfully disagree with each other i.e. we don’t have to be best friends or always agree with each other but we do have to respect each other. It is understanding that we all need to choose to respect each other both face to face and online.

At the uni we have many services if you feel you are being bullied so check out: Salford Students' Union.

Finally... Make someone feel better by small random acts of kindness. Smile at people in the street, it might make their day. Or message / tweet someone who says their having a bad day, by saying 'keep smiling, things will get better soon' Just remember if you're being bullied you're never alone as their is always someone to talk too, whether its family, us here at Shock Radio, a best friend or someone on the internet. It's better to speak and share you're issue than to keep it bottled up until things get worse.

BE STRONG!
