At the start of the tournament, reaching the semi-finals was merely a pipe dream for the vast majority of England fans, however it seemed that football was coming home straight after the first match vs Tunisia. Being in France the day after the World Cup final was amusing as many smug locals went out of their way to ask me if it “actually came home” knowing full well that we lost to Croatia who they beat in the final. Griezmann shines as France dump Uruguay out of the World Cup

France move on into the semi-final of the World Cup for the first time since 2006, after goals from Raphael Varane and Antoine Griezmann knocked out a lacklustre Uruguay. France started very well with the free-flowing passing that we become so used to in this World Cup and kept a lot of possession in the first half. A couple of fouls happened early on, most notably Jose Maria Gimenez standing on Olivier Giroud. “It’s coming home.” The three words that have been surrounding the chances of the English National Football team at 2018 FIFA World Cup. The ‘Three Lions’ are through to their first World Cup quarter-final for the first time since 2006 and look to win the tournament for the first time since 1966.
