Pro-Kurdish protesters storm onto tracks at Manchester Piccadilly

Protesters stormed the tracks at Manchester Piccadilly today, causing widespread disruption. Over 100 protesters trespassed onto several lines at the station as they brandished banners which read, ‘Stop Turkey from helping ISIS terrorists.’ A statement on the National Rail website says: “A trespass incident at Manchester Piccadilly is causing disruption to trains at the stations.” It has since reopened at 4pm after the protesters blocked train lines for three hours. The protest was organised by Manchester Kurdish Community and a spokesperson for the group said campaigners were trying to draw attention to Turkish attacks on the Kurdish-held city of Afrin. In a statement, the group said: “The

Astroid Boys - Took Rebellion Rock bar to astronomical heights - Gig Review

Rambunctious. That pretty much sums up Astroid Boys’ gig at Rebellion, in Manchester. The whole venue was a giant mosh pit of ninja style dance moves, stage diving and crowd surfing, from the second support onwards. Based on how lit the atmosphere was, you’d think it was a metal gig, not a grime one. It certainly wasn’t an experience for the faint hearted and fragile. It’s crystal clear why Astroid Boys have the loyal following they do and most of the crowd had seen them before too. They played a shorter than average set, but had more than the average amount of supports too. The first of which was The Northaze. Two Leeds lads who swaggered around the stage, armed with a Costa Coffee cup, wit

Conference Cup Final

Manchester ran out 18-14 winners in what was a tense and heated local derby. The hosts went 18-0 in front after 37 minutes as Matt Rossiter, Henry Davies and Ben Steele scored their three tries. A Salford fightback was on the cards when Luke Greenwood scored either side of each half. Despite Conor Mulcahy’s effort 14 minutes before the end, it was not enough and Manchester were crowned cup champions. Manchester put the pressure on the Salford line early on, as the referee disallowed tries for two forward passes. However, their constant attack payed off as Matt Rossiter went over the line after eight minutes. Luke Farrow found space on the left side and assisted the winger who darted over the

Ethereal scenes were bestowed upon the Lowry’s Lyric Theatre for The Sleeping Beauty.

It is rare indeed to have an audience gasping in awe from the moment the curtains rise, but guess what? That’s exactly what the Birmingham Royal Ballet’s production of The Sleeping Beauty did. Watching the performance was a truly transcendent experience. The set design was positively regal, with deep, rich tones of: gold, brown, orange and hints of blue. You were immediately transported into a palace of wealth and grandeur. That same elegance was also reflected in the costumes. There was such an exquisite delicacy to them; from the tutus of Princess Aurora (Delia Mathews), to the full length gown of Carabosse (Nao Sakuma), the evil fairy that curses the baby Aurora. That gown alone we
