Man rescued from flipped car in Salford

A man has been rushed to Salford Royal Hospital this evening after his car flipped on Seaford Road in Salford. The accident happened at around 5pm in Lower Broughton outside iQ student accommodation. There's been no explanation as to how the car flipped, but it is believed the driver has no visible sign of injury. A spokesperson for Broughton Fire Service said: "The car had flipped over onto its roof with one man inside. They were rescued by fire service personnel and he's conscious and breathing." Varsity 2017 Fixtures

Salford and Chester Universities go head to head on Wednesday for the annual Varsity Competitions. Chester's sports teams will visit Salford and compete in 22 sports throughout the day on 22nd March. Sabbatical Officer Election Results Revealed

Zamzam Ibrahim has been elected president of the university's Student's Union as the winners of this years student elections were revealed. The results were revealed after thousands of Salford students voted for the Sabbatical Officer candidates this week. Members of the Elections Committee presented the final results to gatherers at Maxwell Lower Hall after speaking of recent University developments and the upcoming Varsity games taking place on 22nd March. The Students Union revealed not long before the final announcements that 2016 President elect Ceewhy Ochoga had been disqualified from the elections "following a rule breach". Student Charity Event raises money for Guide Dogs UK

Up to £345 was raised for the Guide Dogs UK through a student- run charity event on campus. The ‘Pup Cuddles for Charity’event, which took place at Lady Hale Building yesterday, invited students to spend time with the guide dogs for a small donation. Salford students Aglena Sharkova, Jehan Abud and Wajiha Javid organised the event as part of their Events Planning and Development module. "First of all we wanted to target students because it can get very stressful at times. We also wanted to target people who need a break and need time to chill. Question Time for the Sabbatical Officer Candidates

Candidates for the Students’ Union elections completed a round of questions at the New Adelphi theatre on Friday. The two hour Question Time event covered issues including mental health, the National Student Survey and employment opportunities for Salford graduates. Students vote every year to rotate the University’s Sabbatical Officers in the Arts & Media, Business & Law, Health & Social Care, Science & Technology, and Presidency groups.
